About People’s Opioid Project

We are the People’s Opioid Project, an initiative to get evidence-based, effective risk education and misuse prevention messages into more communities, faster. Good prevention strategies shouldn’t be exclusive, or prohibitively expensive. That’s why we make professional, research-driven education and prevention materials available to communities across the country for a fraction of the cost of starting from scratch.

As a social enterprise, we’re building a sustainable business model to provide communities with health communication strategies that evolve with audience needs and new technologies, and produce materials that are tailored to audiences that need it most. Our solution aims to let every organization pool resources to use shared strategies and customized materials for their community, significantly reducing the cost of campaign development and lowering the barrier to measurable behavior change.

How we can help you

We must come together to take action against the epidemic now. We cannot wait for a silver bullet, or sweeping policies to loosen the crisis’ grasp on our communities. Here is how People’s Opioid Project can help you today:

Services

As behavior change experts, we bring deep audience understanding and a strategic framework for the role of communications in combating the crisis.

Strategic Planning

Create a strategic roadmap to prevent opioid misuse for your priority audiences

Audience Research

Uncover the values and motivators for high-risk audiences to design customized interventions

Trainings

Learn about the root causes of opioid misuse and overdoses alongside best practices to tackle the issue in your community

Materials

We develop resources, materials, and content to deliver effective messages to a range of audiences. There is no one-size-fits-all message that will effectively change behaviors on a large scale, so we apply our audience segmentation and behavior change expertise to design the right content for the right audience.

“Strong as the Ocean”: This content package includes video, social media, and website content. It draws a parallel between having a healthy fear of the ocean, and a healthy fear of the power of prescription opioids, since both can be used safely, but can also have dire consequences if not taken seriously.

SOPHIA LERDAHL / PROJECT DIRECTOR
